Pottery workshop – Eiko Wani

2008w42008.8.5

A popular workshop during summer holiday. Our local Bezen potter, Eiko Wani took the class introducing an elemental technique of making pots. Kneading the clay and shaping it to plates, mugs and animals! It was a great fun making them and anticipation mounted during the firing.  Every piece came out perfect!

Eiko Wani became a pupil of Toyo Kaneshige, the first living national treasure from Bizen pottery and studied under Domyo Kaneshige and Sozan Kaneshige. He subsequently built a kiln in Kagamino-cho. His solo exhibitions were great success and also shown at Tanabe Museum which earned him a Cha-no-yu Zokei-ten Grand Prize.
