Kite making workshop with Shin Kuroda

Up, up in the sky! Kite making for the new year took place on the 20th December. Shin Kuroda is a chairman of Friends of Green Hills Tsuyama and an expert kite maker, who has been teaching children how to make kite for many years. Properly splitting a bamboo cane with a knife posed a huge challenge. Then selecting strong Japanese paper on which the children drew, fixing bamboo sticks on the paper, tying strings to the kites follows. Each child made a kite and also took part in making rendako, a long string of kites. Unfortunately there was not enough wind that day, but children ran with all their might and they took off carrying their hopes of the new year!
