Born in Kumamoto, Japan in1944, Susumu Sakaguchi emigrated to the States in 1956. Having graduated from California Institute of Arts with the highest mark, he moved to New York City in 1973, where he has pursued his art and also worked as Isamu Noguchi’s assistant (1977-1988). He has exhibited worldwide and has been promoting his work extensively in Japan from Hokkaido to Amami Ohshima since 1981. He lives and works in New York and Big Island, Hawaii.
